Interesting that Andy Carrol says he was forced out of Newcastle while the Newcastle board insist they reacted to him handing in a transfer request. Who to believe. Newcastle made £35mill on the sale of Carrol, which in anyones mind is a great price. However, relegation from the Premier League is estimated to cost a club around £40mill in income, so would Newcastle really have taken the risk on being relegated by selling their best, and only inform striker?
I can see Newcastle nudging Carrol towards the door, but with Carrol being a lifetime fan of the club, perhaps he agreed to go for the greater cause…IE ensuring that the club had £35mill in their back pocket to spend in the future?
